Refrigeration equipment is not concerned with holidays, long weekends or holidays. If it is fully stocked, it works all the time, even when we are resting. Therefore, when the holidays come and the shop is closed for business, it is worth ensuring that our counters, cabinets or multideck refrigerated displays operate efficiently and smoothly. What should you pay attention to? Here are some suggestions!
1. Close the refrigerator doors!
A seemingly trivial issue is hugely important for the correct maintenance of refrigeration devices. If the door of a refrigerator is not closed, it is subjected to a constant influx of warm ambient air, forcing it to work more intensively. This increases electricity consumption, as well as the consumption of refrigeration system components, such as the compressor, which can lead to failure. So before you leave the shop, check that all refrigeration device doors are tightly closed.
Our tip: this problem can be easily eliminated by choosing devices with self-closing doors. You can also opt to install a sound alarm of open door.
2. Put up the night covers.
Night covers help to reduce the influx of warm ambient air into the display area of devices such as counters and open refrigerated multideck displays, when they are not in use by staff or customers. They should be put on every day, just before the shop closes, to reduce electricity consumption when no one is reaching the display.
3. Turn off the lights on the device.
Turning off the lights on your refrigeration devices is another action that will save you a little on your electricity bill, even if your refrigerators are fitted with LED lighting.
4. Check all condensate containers.
It is also a good idea to make sure that the condensate containers are emptied before you close the shop for an extended period of time. This avoids any unpleasant surprises on your return in the form of a puddle of water on the floor under the refrigeration device.
Our tip: you do not need to remember to empty the condensate container regularly if you opt for a device with automatic condensate evaporation or which allows the condensate to be drained directly into the sewage system.
5. Listen to how the device works.
Strange, unusual sounds coming from a refrigeration device can be a sign of a malfunction. It is definitely better to catch it and remove it before closing the shop for a few days to avoid serious damage to the equipment and spoiling the goods inside. Therefore, it is advisable to check before a long break whether the devices are running too loudly and whether they make disturbing noises, and if so, contact a service centre as soon as possible and secure the products accordingly.
6. Check the arrangement of the assortment.
A wrongly stacked product, which blocks the free circulation of air, can cause the refrigeration equipment to malfunction, resulting in breakdown and spoilage of the products kept inside. Make sure the products are evenly arranged and do not obstruct the ventilation openings.
