New in the offer! BIN2 waste cooler

Jan 12, 2024

Professional kitchens in restaurants, hotels, hospitals and school canteens, as well as grocery shops and food service points are places where large amounts of organic waste are generated every day. Both leftovers from food processing and unsold meat, dairy and vegetable products with an expired shelf life require proper storage before they can be sent for disposal. A similar situation also applies to medical and veterinary waste and pharmaceuticals. In order to maintain standards for the disposal of medical and veterinary waste in accordance with current legislation and to prevent rapid decomposition of waste in the shop or restaurant, and consequently to stop unpleasant odours and the release of harmful substances, all types of organic waste, especially in summer, are best stored under refrigerated conditions. The best cooling conditions with the lowest possible energy consumption will be ensured by our latest device, the waste cooler.

Why you need a waste cooler

The waste cooler is a device that allows various types of organic, medical and veterinary waste to be safely stored until it is collected by a disposal company. By ensuring a suitably low temperature, our waste cooler slows down the growth of microorganisms and thus reduces the degradation processes of the stored organic waste. By properly storing waste in our waste cooler, we help you to maintain the highest hygiene and sanitary standards and create a safe space for your co-workers, clients or patients.

Refrigeration parameters

The organic waste cooler is made in climate class 3, which means that the optimal operating characteristics of the device are ensured up to an ambient temperature of 25°C and a relative humidity of 60%. We have used dynamic cooling in our waste chamber, which ensures an even temperature distribution throughout the interior. This means that by adjusting the temperature setting on the device's electronic controller, you can determine the exact temperature that will prevail inside the device. In this way, you will comply with legal storage requirements and optimise energy consumption. Below are the thermostat settings for selected temperature classes and the resulting temperature ranges inside the cold room and energy consumption at an ambient temperature of 25°C and 60% relative humidity:

Temperature control is also possible over a wider range, even from 0°C to +13°C. Maintaining such excellent cooling performance is possible thanks to insulation made of polyurethane foam, 80 mm thick (walls and bottom) and 42 mm thick (top panel). Our waste cooler runs on the truly environmentally friendly refrigerant R290 with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 3 (the lower the better - the current limit for refrigerants is 150). The device is equipped with our innovative refrigeration system, based on an extremely energy-efficient inverter compressor, which guarantees quiet and trouble-free operation and, above all, low power consumption of 438 kWh per year (class 3H1), i.e. up to 4 times lower than other devices of this kind available on the market! Additional advantages of the cooler are automatic defrosting and convenient access to the condensate container.

Solid and functional design

We have made the RAPA BIN2 waste cooler from high-quality stainless steel so that it can be conveniently cleaned and disinfected. With dimensions of 1285 mm (height) x 1960 mm (width) x 980 mm (depth), we have adapted the two-chamber device to store 2 waste bins with a maximum capacity of 240 litres each. If you do not wish to store your waste in standard bins, you may be interested in the total interior capacity of the cooler, which is 1,200 litres. The interior can be accessed in two ways: either through a convenient hinged door, located on the front, through which bins can be inserted and removed, or through lids located in the upper panel of the cooler. For added safety and comfort, the top lids are equipped with actuators that assist in lifting and prevent the lids from falling uncontrolled.

Special facilities

The device has been equipped with a number of solutions to increase its comfort of use:

  • On the inner walls of the chamber, we have used protection to prevent the container from covering the ventilation grille and to ensure adequate air circulation inside the device.
  • We have covered the seals of the front door with an element of the upper panel in such a way as to prevent them from getting dirty in a short time.
  • We have designed an appropriately shaped overrun threshold to make it easier to load and unload the containers.
  • The design of the device provides easy access to the condensate container, or alternatively, it can be discharged directly into the drainage system.
  • We have fitted an easy-to-clean siphon in the cooler.
  • For easy transport, we have prepared special transport hooks, which can be assembled and disassembled in just a few minutes.

Where is a waste cooler needed?

The waste cooler, also known as a waste refrigerator compartment, is definitely an essential piece of equipment for restaurants, canteens, delicatessens and all catering establishments. It can also be used in grocery shops and food production facilities. Generally speaking, wherever food is produced or processed, generating large amounts of waste every day, which must be stored until collected by the waste collection company. Other places where waste refrigerators are indispensable are laboratories and medical and veterinary facilities. The large quantities of medical and veterinary waste generated during the provision of medical treatment, including surgical instruments and their residues, used bandage materials and other hygiene products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, body parts and organs, and many others, also require refrigerated storage as they pose a high epidemiological risk.

While separating and adapting a special room-refrigerator for waste storage is often a major logistical and financial challenge, equipping a facility with ready-to-use RAPA waste coolers is a simple solution to the problem of storing troublesome waste.
